Philippe Tournaire and His Jewelry Rings
Usually in the mornings I postpone the start of my workday - browsing, reading or having a long breakfast. And I call all this "research" - just to feel better I guess about my procrastinating. Today as I was browsing, I found a French jewelry artist - Philippe Tournaire and his collection of house rings. Check out these gorgeous architectural details in this Moscow ring.

This one is called a "Florida House" - there’s even a tiny swimming pool

The great things about the Philippe Tournaire rings is that you can find a ring that’s close to you - your house ring. I love this Chinese pagoda ring. It may be because of my love for travels, especially travels in Asia. For more house rings, check out his jewelry site.

Jewellery - Eight Reasons Why It’s More Than Just Decoration
I’m always excited when I get submissions for the great blog posts. The sponsored post below was submitted by a designer jewellery supplier with whom I worked before and who wrote a previously published article on The Top Weirdest Kinds of Jewellery in the World.
*************
Jewellery has been in use for many years now. In fact, long before it was even known or recognized as jewellery it was widely used by various groups and communities the world over. Today, jewellery has evolved to mean a variety of things and serve a variety of purposes. Here are eight of the most common uses of jewellery, from the older uses to the most modern.
1. Currency

Starting in the Stone Age, jewellery was used as some form of currency. Due to the need for a standard measure of value, the use of various materials as monetary exchange was adopted. The most common of these were shells and other odd objects. However, when the Stone Agers wore them in transit, they soon took a liking to this retro couture that gave them some Stone Age swagger.
2. Utilities

Still in the ancient times, pieces of various materials were used as fasteners and clasps. Due to the undeveloped nature of the clothing those days, one had to secure the pieces of skin and fur in order to maintain some decency. This is not to say, however, that they did succeed at this!
3. Status Symbol

Moving forward in the time line, jewellery began to achieve some form of aesthetic value. Chiefs and clan elders began to adorn different pieces of jewellery to distinguish their stature in the community. Using items such as feathers from exotic birds and unique animal skins, jewellery became a status symbol.
4. Other Symbolism

With the advent and development of religion and other people groups, jewellery evolved from being a status symbol to membership symbol. Crucifixes and other identification symbols became commemorated in the design of jewellery. Membership of these various groupings usually entailed bearing one of these pieces of jewellery.
5. A Display of Wealth

They say what goes around comes around. Well, as far as the monetary use of jewellery goes, this has certainly come true. Jewellery today, or bling, as it is commonly referred to, has become a sign of wealth and affluence. Starting from the Queen of Bling herself, who happens to have the largest diamond in the world in her crown, down to the celebrities and stars that showcase their success through their jewellery.
6. Wealth Storage

Jewellery has also evolved over time to become a storage medium for wealth. Various persons and organizations today prefer to store their wealth in the form of priceless pieces of exquisite jewellery. It is well known that as it becomes antique jewellery, it gains worth.
7. Charms

Jewellery has been used as a supernatural conduit over the ages. Due to the mystery and allure behind jewellery, as well as sentimental value, this use of jewellery has steadily taken root in society. The rise of the so called good luck charm certainly exemplifies this use of jewellery.
8. Expressionism

The artistic renaissance came along with the need for artistic expression. Jewellery curried favour with this movement and soon became one of the preferred mediums of expression for many artists

Badgley Mischka Jewelry - Badgley Mischka Spring Summer 2011
Every season I always look forward to see the new collection of Badgley Mischka jewelry. After the stunning fall collection of intricate bib necklaces, this season the designers take a fresh look at jewelry. Coins and disks were present throughout with the addition of chains, crystals, leaves and fabrics. Head-pins in locks of the girls, an occasional head scarf, sheer gloves were all nice additions to the Badgley Mischka dresses.

Badgley Mischka Dresses - Spring 2011 - Different Look at Flowers
This morning I was fortunate to witness the brand new Badgley Mischka Spring 2011 collection. I noticed sculptures of flowers, sheer gorgeousness with some sparkles. The spring colors were nudes, multiple shades of greys and whites. The gowns were adorned with sparkly clutches, woven bags and coin rich jewelry pieces. Once again when I opened the program I was beyond surprised - Badgley Mischka designed all the shoes, jewelry, handbags and of course gorgeous clothes. Bravo once again to the power couple!

Check out the shoes. I’m so glad these are not the platform stilettos. I just don’t get platform stilettos…

Betsey Johnson Spring 2011 - Castle Tiaras, Ride Me Necklaces, Navy Inspired Dresses, Bubbly, Pink and Fun at Betsey Johnson
The Betsey Johnson Spring 2011 show had navy and bubbly themes all tied together by a fun attitude. The models were walking and having fun. They were striking poses, laughing and playing on a runway transformed into a street. Ride Me necklaces, sparkly tiaras and headbands, colorful hair-ties, flower bracelets were all great complements to the oh so Betsey dresses.

Chictopia Conference
Yesterday I had a pleasure to attend Chictopia10 conference, which I would describe as a gathering of brands, bloggers, everyone interested in trends, fashion and internet. With panels such as "Visibility in the Online World" and "Search vs. Social Media: What Drives Traffic?", the conference was a pill of technology and social media knowledge focused on the fashion audience.
