Fashion Blog

This week I started a brand new fresh fashion blog at www.ThisIsAYes.com. I feel the need to write about my fashion finds, events, New York. I thought it would be a good idea to separate the Lucid New York blog where I’ll continue letting you know about what’s new in my jewelry world from my posts on outfits, finds and fashion in general. I hope to see you in both places!

Charm Co

charm-co

Charm necklaces and just charms in general are one of my favorite things that exist. Those cute, lucky and clever ones, like the one above from Charm Co - love them all. I mean, how often do you find yourself with no wood around when you need to "knock on wood". Search no more!

They make a perfect gift - you can really show you know the person by getting them the perfect charm. Charms may sometimes have a different meaning and certain cultures can relate to certain symbols more than others.

One of the funniest examples that comes to my mind is the conversation with a client of mine from France. This is the question she asked when she saw the wishbone necklace.

- Qu-est-ce c’est?

what is it?

- C’est un os de dinde, le collier le plus vendu de Lucid New York

It’s a wishbone - a turkey bone, the best selling necklace of Lucid New York

- Un os?

A bone?

- Oui, un os.

Yes, a bone.

- Mais pourquoi quelqu’un voudrait porter un os sur son cou?
Why would anyone want to wear a bone on their neck?

Yes so the wishbone necklace didn’t get any love in France. Over there, the most loved was the high heel shoe necklace.

PS1 Bag Favorite

ps1-bags-barneys

Looks like one of the IT bags this season is most definitely the Proenza Schouler PS1 bag. Coming is all shades of nude and the traditional black, the bag is one of the celebrities favorite and a talked about bag this season. Not to mention its cool name.

This is my PS1 bag of choice. I’d go for the pink suede one but since I love fashion meets practicality I chose this one.

Images from Barneys.com and that’s also where a bunch of the PS1 bags are available

Promise Ring

tiffanys-celebration-rings

My boyfriend gave me my promise ring exactly a year ago and it’s been my most precious thing I’ve ever owned. Not only because it’s so gorgeous, sturdy and extremely well made, not only because it includes the two world’s hardest stones - diamonds and sapphires but above all because of what’s behind the ring.

I think a promise ring represents something different depending on a couple. For us, the ring was an opportunity to promise something to each other. The ring marked the day, and it’s always been the reminder of the promise.

It’s sometimes hard to own such a precious thing, it can be scary. Especially at the beginning I was very worried not to loose it. I used to have dreams that the stones were falling off the ring. With time, I got more comfortable. It’s as if it started becoming a part of me. I decided to develop routines preventing the chances of it getting lost - washing my hands with it on, and basically generally avoiding taking it off.

I cannot express how happy this ring makes me. It’s something that’s with me all the time, something my boyfriend gave me, something I can cherish every day.

Initial Letter Studs Earrings

initials-letters-necklaces-handmade-jewelry

Initial necklaces have been in the Lucid New York collection for a while now and have been extremely popular. Especially during the holiday season, when it’s so tough to come up with too many original ideas we can possibly handle, or when we don’t really know a person that well, a tiny letter necklaces really seem like a good idea.

I love layering my A initial necklace as you can see how I wore them in my previous post from the New York Fashion Week. They’re definitely cute - not in your face, showing some identity, some personality in a discreet way.

Well now a new idea was born. One of my clients - Uncommon Goods asked me to transform the oh so popular initial necklaces into initial letter stud earrings. Why not, I said and here they are - tiny letters that you can put right in your ear! The letter earrings are sterling silver or silver dipped in 14k so no worries as far as allergies, etc. How can you get them? Well you can vote on Uncommon Goods, which will make them hurry up to carry them.

Uncommon Goods Crowdsources Their Future Buying Choices

As competing for eyeballs, dollars gets more and more difficult, the ways that the companies try to get our attention get more and more creative. Crowdsourcing is one of the most cost effective ways to test products spreading the word about the brand and giving the customers the power of deciding. I have seen the Modcloth Be the Buyer initiative where we can decide what items the vintage site will stock in the future. Similarly, Uncommon Goods came up with the voting system where we are invited to stop by, vote on the possible future products and "shape the future of Uncommon Goods."

One of the Lucid New York pieces - Jump Rope Girl Necklace is also in the competition. The necklace, next to the portable ping pong set, Tilly sandal socks and infant fortune cookie booties competes to be chosen as the next Uncommon Good.

Looking forward to seeing the results. You can help to get the girl chosen by voting on Uncommon Goods.
