I had a conversation with my mom about how much she dislikes when someone says "all the best" for birthdays, holidays, etc. In her opinion wishes should be more personalized, showing that you know the person. She recently even started writing short poems on cards, I remember crying reading one of them.

I totally agree and I think the same thing applies to a "thank you." My boyfriend sent me flowers and this is what I wrote to say that they arrived:

"if I was going to imagine a dream bouquet of flowers, that’s what it would look like. Thank you for making my dreams come true - these big and small ones."
